Winterization Maintenance

As fall arrives with shorter days, cooler temperatures, and falling leaves, it’s time to prepare your irrigation system for the freezing months ahead. Winterization is the most crucial maintenance service to protect your system from freeze damage and costly repairs. This is also our most popular service, ensuring your system remains in excellent condition through the winter.

Protect your investment with Winterization Maintenance from The Sprinkler Company, backed by our TSC Winterization Guarantee.

What’s Included in Winterization?

  • Turning off the water supply to the irrigation system(household systems)
  • Disconnecting pump and intake line for pump systems (Pumps can be drained and left on-site, but we recommend our FREE heated winter storage for added protection)
  • Removing all water from the system using compressed air
  • Inspecting the system at the time of winterization and provide a list of recommended repairs or improvements for the following spring
  • Turning off the irrigation controller for winter
  • Providing an estimate for suggested repairs, upgrades, or service needs

While we stand behind our work, there are some situations where the guarantee does not apply, including but not limited to:

  • Ground frost movement causing pipes to shift or settle, resulting in breaks
  • Damage occurring after winterization (e.g., from construction or landscaping work) that allows water to enter and freeze
  • System winterized after freezing temperatures have already occurred (failure to schedule service or lack of a maintenance agreement)
  • No proper way to winterize certain system components (e.g., standpipes or inaccessible sections)
  • Unknown or inoperable portions of the system that could not be winterized
  • Water supply turned back on after winterization but before spring start-up
  • Faulty or leaking shutoff valves
